Valais Iowa’s GOAL is to BREED, RAISE, AND SHOW ELITE VALAIS BLACKNOSE SHEEP, adhering to the SWISS breed standard. The genetics we have chosen are from leading breeders. Our lambs are from carefully selected matings with different sires and exceptional pedigrees loaded with maximum points genetics. In addition to our breeding program, we continually seek out and purchase elite embryos to bring in new genetics to our flock and further increase our own quality.

DONOR EWES: We believe retaining and breeding the best females is the foundation of our breeding program and is our competitive advantage. The best females bred to the best males produces elite offspring. Valais Iowa is proud to have had TWO, of the first three, MAXIMUM POINTS ewes in the US. We have kept several very elite females, including several full siblings to the maximum points winners with diverse genetic backgrounds, as our DONOR EWES. Their offspring, ewes and rams, will be for sale. Purchasing one of our purebred rams will be an invaluable addition to advancing your breeding program. Valais Iowa is proud to have had the FIRST TWO MAXIMUM POINTS rams in the U.S. Our elite rams will be available for breeding via frozen semen or natural breeding.

Valais Iowa offers FROZEN SEMEN from our purebred rams. Our elite rams’ frozen semen is available for purchase for AI (artificial inseminaton) or IVF (in vitro fertilization). For our customers we also offer BREEDING SERVICES to our purebred rams. We will give the ewe owner an easy-to-follow protocol for breeding preparation, to complete prior to the ewe’s arrival. Ewes must be in good health with up-to-date vaccinations, and shorn ~60 days before arrival. We expect the ewes to stay 30-60 days and we guarantee a confirmed pregnancy prior to pick-up.
