How cool is it to have our first naturally bred purebred Valais lambs?  We think uber cool!  He’s flashy with his cocky look!  STOUT AND SQUARE with nice symmetrical markings!  Lasso & Lariat are twins out of our ram Iowa Kobra Kai who saw many admirers at the 2023 National Show.  He went to work after the show to produce consistent progeny.  Kobra Kai is a sturdy, rugged ram and his lambs look like their daddy.

He’s been in a show ring already!  You don’t get any better spots than this!  Lincoln has big bold symmetrical black markings, good fleece and leg wool.  One of our first naturally bred purebred Valais lambs, Lincoln is out of our ram Iowa Kobra Kai - a sturdy, rugged ram - and Lincoln looks like his daddy.

We have a ewe lamb that didn’t make our breeding program standards.  Ladybug is super sweet and friendly though, and would love to be your spoiled pet!  She is pretty with nice fringe (head wool) and fleece, and plenty of leg wool.  No papers will be given/not for breeding.

 

Valais Iowa offers FROZEN SEMEN from our purebred rams.  Our elite rams’ frozen semen is available for purchase for AI (artificial inseminaton) or IVF (in vitro fertilization).  Frozen semen can be purchased online or by calling Scott at 515-509-4333.  See photos, details and pedigrees of the rams we are currently offering.

We also offer BREEDING SERVICES to our purebred rams.  We will give the ewe owner an easy-to-follow protocol for breeding preparation, to complete prior to the ewe’s arrival.  Ewes must be in good health with up-to-date vaccinations, and shorn ~60 days before arrival.  We expect the ewes to stay 30-60 days and we guarantee a confirmed pregnancy prior to pick-up. We have lovely FELTED FLEECES for sale from our Valais Blacknose lambs and sheep.

We have partnered with another breeder/fiber artist who handcrafts our sheep’s SHEARED fleeces into felted fleeces.  Long, curly locks are seen on the fleece top, while the underside is felted to hold the fleece together.  One sheared fleece can be made into one felted fleece.  Felted fleeces can be used as throw blankets, seat cushions, rugs, wall-hanging art and conversation pieces.  Add a cozy touch of Swiss Alpine styling to your home with attractive fluffy felted fleece throws or cushions.  Maybe you met the sheep – at a show or at the farm - that produced their fleece for you to enjoy!

Wool is a renewable resource.  Valais Blacknose sheep grow 12 inches of wool per year!  Our sheep are sheared twice per year, producing two fleeces for two felted fleeces per year.  Wool is natural and sustainable.  Wool is a natural thermoregulating fiber, unmatched by man-made fabrics.  Environmentally friendly too, wool is recyclable and biodegradable.  Using our sheep’s wool for use in our homes is a sustainable alternative to synthetics, and a bit nostalgic.
